This is a statement I have been hearing a lot lately, and I must say I would have to agree with it. There are lots of times that that I just don’t get it. The current theme and attitude of the powers that be at Maemo.org the subject of my current topic. I do not understand why there is such an adverse reaction to people wanting choice, and some level of consistency with ITT’s original theme’s. I understand the Default theme matching the rest of Maemo.org, but I do not understand why they are so against choice.
over 70% of (out of 65 people at the time of this writing) people who reponded to this “POLL: Should talk.maemo.org create and support a dark theme like the original ITT?” > View Poll Results Agreed that Maemo.org should support a dark theme.
over 44% of (out of 146 people at the time of this writing) voted “It was way better before” 37% said they liked it and 26% said they thought it was better now. It was a multiple choice poll.
Yet some of those few people who voted no, have been adamant in there position, even though a considerable amount of people disagree with the direction that has been set.
Another additional concern is that they are removing the front page of ITT. OK but there is no replacement planned, no front page to see on one page what active topics are. No front page linking to stories and posts? It’s like they want to drive you away from ITT into Maemo.org.
I have set my signature on ITT to:
Well its bun a lot of fun for the last three years. It appears that the fun is coming to an end. I anticipate myself coming here less and less. If anyone wants to reach me use penguinbait@penguinbait.com.
It was a fun ride while it lasted…. keep in touch!!

This has upset some people. People saying I am acting like I am 5, taking my toys and going home. This is not only a reaction to the color change, it is more of the straw that broke the camels back. There is an elitist attitude running rampant through the forum. The community is no longer a community, its run and led by a few, not a representative of the many who have been here making up the community. Where is MY council member representing our side to Maemo. Agree with those in charge or shut up, this is what we are being told. You don’t like it, do it yourself. This is the response we get to requesting an alternative.
There is Nobody better to fix this problem than the people who are screaming the loudest that there is no problem.
Its clear that this could be fixed, its clear that the powers that be don’t want it fixed. Its clear I have ZERO representation in this community.
So, I guess I just don’t get it. I have always loved ITT. Reggie tried to send me 100$ when my 810 was stolen. When I put up my blog site, every post points back to a topic on ITT where I urged users to visit and discuss. I have driven crap loads of traffic to the site with Window Maker, ROX openbox XFCE,cdrom-tools, install-tools, KDE ,K3B CD/DVD burning, console-tools, and years worth of useful posts. I have always done what I could to support ITT and drive people to ITT.
I love my Nokia hardware and will continue to be a proponent and in fact I am very much looking forward to what will come with the faster hardware. It’s just becoming less likely that any my adventures will be posted on talk.maemo.org.

Hi, Thanks for letting us know.
I have bookmarked your blog in my ‘check regularly’ folder.
FWIW my only interest now is Mer and NITdroid and I visit ITT (or talk.maemo.org or whatever it is/going to be) purely for those updates. Maybe one day these projects will have their own forums.
Either way my interest in Maemo is minimal.
Hi penguinbait,
Sorry to hear you are disappointed, hopefully you’ll give the new talk.maemo.org another chance. Maybe even run for council yourself – then you can change things to your liking or at least work more closely with Nokia and the rest of the community.
Regards,
Jeremiah
It’s sad to see someone who has given so much be run off by a few pedantic twerps. I have to admit that some of those in charge have a GENERAL ; ) attitude that pi33es me off too. Usually I just shrug it off, thankful that I have a real life.
Good post. Don’t give up.
